The quickest way to find a HYROX Doubles partner is to start from the race: pick the event and day first, then look for someone going to the same race, in the same division, with a similar running pace. Ask the people you train with, your gym or HYROX Training Club, local groups, or use a partner app that shows who is going to each race and looking for a partner.

I learned this the hard way. In 2025 my wife wanted to race HYROX, asked friends, searched Facebook and WhatsApp groups, and never found anyone who matched, so she raced alone. That’s why I started RoxConnect.

What makes a good Doubles partner

Check Why it matters
Same race and day You register as a team for one race, day and wave
Same division Doubles Men, Doubles Women, Mixed Doubles or Pro: it decides your weights
Similar running pace You run all 8 km side by side, so the slower runner sets the pace
Same goal A fun first race, a personal best, an age-group podium or qualifying: agree before you sign up
Complementary strengths You split each station as you like, so a strong sled partner and a fast burpee partner make a good pair
Where you live Training together a few times before race day makes the changeovers smooth

Running pace is the one to get right. Station work can be shared unevenly, but the running can’t: both of you run every kilometre, and running ahead costs a 1-minute penalty.

Where to look

1. People you already train with

A training partner who knows your pace is the easiest match. Ask early, before the race sells out.

2. Your gym or an official HYROX Training Club

Gyms with HYROX classes are full of people already training for the same format. Ask the coach who is racing which event.

3. Facebook groups, WhatsApp and Reddit

Local HYROX groups and race-specific threads can work, but it’s hard to filter by race, division and level, and posts get buried quickly.

4. A partner app

RoxConnect is built for exactly this: pick a race and see who else is going and looking for a Doubles or Relay partner, check their division and past races on their profile, and message them before you register. Open any race page, for example HYROX London or HYROX Melbourne, to see the race and who is going.

Questions to ask before you register together

  1. Which day and wave can you both make?
  2. Which division: Doubles Men, Doubles Women, Mixed Doubles, or Pro?
  3. What’s your 1 km pace when you’re tired?
  4. What’s your goal: finish, a time, a podium?
  5. Which stations do you love and which do you dread?
  6. Can you train together at least a couple of times before race day?

Finding a Mixed Doubles partner

In Mixed Doubles both partners race on the men’s Open weights: a 152 kg sled push, 103 kg sled pull, 2 × 24 kg kettlebells, 20 kg sandbag and a 6 kg wall ball (2.70 m target for the woman, 3.00 m for the man). Talk about who takes the sleds and how you’ll split the wall balls before you register. The HYROX weights guide has every number.

Once you’ve found your partner

  • Register together at hyrox.com as a Doubles team. If there’s any chance one of you can’t make it, add Lite Flex or Flex when you buy: it’s the only way to change names later (see what to do if your partner drops out).
  • Agree on the split for each station and practise the changeovers: the HYROX Doubles guide covers the rules station by station.
  • Do at least one simulation together: run, station, run, so you learn each other’s pace. The 8-week Doubles training plan has six partner workouts.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I find a HYROX Doubles partner?

Start with people you already train with, then your gym or an official HYROX Training Club, local Facebook or WhatsApp groups, and partner apps such as RoxConnect, which shows who is going to each race and looking for a partner.

What makes a good HYROX Doubles partner?

Someone going to the same race and day, in the same division, with a similar running pace and the same goal for the race. Different station strengths are a bonus, because you can split the work around them.

Does my Doubles partner need to be the same level as me?

Not exactly, but your running pace matters most: you run all 8 km side by side, so the slower runner sets the pace. Station strength can differ, because you choose how to split each station.

Can I find a Mixed Doubles partner online?

Yes. Filter for someone of the opposite sex going to the same race. Remember that both partners use the men's Open weights in Mixed Doubles, so talk about who takes the sleds before you register.

When should I find a partner for a HYROX race?

Before you register, since you sign up as a team. Races and waves can sell out, so it pays to look as soon as the race is announced.
